A BENGAL KITTEN/ CAT REQUIRES THE SAME CARE AS OTHER BREEDS OF CATS.
Owning a cat or any other pet is not just a privilege-it's a responsibility. Pets depend on us for, at minimum, food and shelter, and deserve much more. If you are considering taking a cat into your life, you need to think seriously about the commitment that cat ownership entails.
Before you bring home your new kitten be sure to that you understand the obligation you are taking upon yourself. The first consideration when you are deciding to buy a Bengal (or any other pet) are you willing and able to provide an excellent home for your new pet for the next ten to 15 years. Pets are lifelong companions.
Cost of a Bengal.
There is no such thing as a free pet. Not even a kitten that is found on your doorstep, there is costs associated with the care of the pet. The Bengal that you choose to share you home and life with will be your companion for a very long time. The initial cost of a Bengal cat reflects the magnitude of your desire to have a particular Bengal Cat. The financial obligation with the day by day ownership of a Bengal is no greater then any other pet. The cost of a Bengal cat is offset by hundreds of joyful hours that a Bengal cat will bring to your life every day.

What will you need for your new Bengal kitten?
1. Cat Furniture: Bengal's love heights, so if you buy a cat condominium get the tallest one you can and still fit in your home. |
2. A litter box: , any one will work but the sides should be at least 4 or 6 inches high.
|
|
4. A scratching post: all cats extend their claws and scratch. A scratching post will satisfy this need. |
5. Grooming tools: a brush and a comb made for cats, nail trimmers. |
6. A food and water dishes I uses only stainless steel ones, plastic ones may cause problems |
|
8. A cat carrier to take your new kitten home in and any time you take them out of the house. and a bed for the carrie. |
9. Toys and more toys. you can never have to many cat toys. Just ask any cat. |
Last but not least: A LOT OF LOVE and you will get a lot more love in return |
| |
THINGS TO BE AWARE OF:
Do not give milk to kittens. They don't need it and milk is likely to give them diarrhea. Kittens are usually happiest when they have dry food continually available. Don't forget fresh water daily.
Kittens love to play. Provide harmless outlets for all that energy by supplying toys that are safe. Select toys too large to be swallowed but small enough to bat around. A ping pong ball, crumpled wax paper or a toilet paper tube are all excellent choices.
Don't let your kitten play with string or thread, and be careful not to leave threaded needles where cats can reach them. Any long string-like object, especially if there is a needle attached, can become trapped in the intestine and will eventually cut completely through the intestinal wall.
Plants and other household items could become a deadly enemy to your cats read here to find out more http://www.cfainc.org/articles/plants.html

Kitten Glop recipes
KITTEN/CAT CARE BASICS:
Glop: It you don't have any milk or your kitty is in need of extra nutrients, make up a small batch of Glop. Kitty Glop was designed by a vet and is extremely high in calories and suitable for even newborn kitties. Refer to our Nursery page for additional newborn help (if needed).
Place the Glop into a Syringe (between a 12 cc - a 35 cc size) and attach a small teat to the tip, and bottle feed this as milk or added to the milk. Glop is widely used by breeders worldwide.
To prepare, pull out a clean blender and a saucepan. In the saucepan add 1 Cup (8 ounces) of water. Once the water begins to boil, dissolve 1 packet of unflavored knox gelatin, and remove from heat. Stir the gelatin until all has dissolved.
Once the gelatin has dissolved completely, mix into a blender with the following:
8 oz evaporated whole milk
2 egg yolks, (DO NOT USE the WHITES)
2 tablespoons mayonnaise, not diet or low fat
2 tablespoons plain yogurt, again not a diet version...we are looking to produce calories.
1 teaspoon karo syrup. Honey can be used in an emergency but Karo is preferred (use the clear karo).
1 teaspoon Nutradrops or other liquid pet vitamins
*optional if needed,-1/2 teaspoon of acidophilus or 1 gram of Bene-Bac pet gel (pre measures in grams)
For older kittens (past the weaning stage) and cats, to be used as a supplement or weight gain or while under stress from or preparing to show, add:
1/16 teaspoon of vitamin c in powder form
1 teaspoon of powdered kelp (this really doesn't dissolve very well)
1 tablespoon of brewers yeast
* optional- 10 drops of Larch (A Bach Flower)- this helps build confidence but works over a period of time as a build up effect.
Refrigerate in a covered dish until completely chilled like jello. Scoop out the amount you need, warm to room temp...be careful not to overheat and then burn the kittens tongue. I use a coffee cup filled with hot tap water for several minutes. Place the syringe filled with the glop down into the water, keeping the tip closed on the syringe....this works best with pre filled glop syringes.
Glop becomes jelled when cold. Once the glop is warmed, it appears to be milk.
Discard whatever amount is warmed and left over, and never return the unused portion back to the main supply bowl.
I know Glop can be stored in your freezer for up to 4 months, however safe refrigeration
